    Ontario Grass
I'm having a discussion with a friend about grass (random, I know), and he was wondering what type of grass we have in Ontario. I have no clue.. I went and looked up grass seeds and they are all mixtures of fine fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, and ryegrass. But is that what most of the natural grass in the area is?

We don't have a 'natural' grass in Ontario (big area!)/ It all depends on light exposure, type of topsoil, if we are near the lake or away from it (hydration). I live on the north shore and blend my own according to what my property needs, different areas need different blends. I have pine, maple, you name the tree Ive got it.

Its not like we are the prairies where grass is completely different as in 'grasslands'.

We are an almost treed province and a lot of granite, so any grass would find it pretty hard to find a foothold.

My grass has large patches of dried, dead-looking, straw-like growth. I read this may be fungus?? Or is this a type of grass which grows locally (Pitman, south NJ). Please e-mail to [email protected] if anyone has ideas!
