    Abandond house 25yrs empty
    I want to no if I can claim a house its been emty for 25yr now and is all open. Can someone tell me please as it's a shame as it very old about 1700 1800 I don't no but around that.

    Go to the county auditor and find out who owns it.

    I don't know what you mean by "claim a house." Can you simply walk in and say, "This is my house now?" No.

    If you call your local assessor's office they will give you the info on who/where the tax bills are sent - I pick up these records all the time.

    You then would have to buy the house from the owner. Of course, if taxes are unpaid there's a possibility it will come up for auction.
