Social Security Beneficiaries - can they have royalty incomes garnished?
I am a disabled recipient that receives a social security check each month. I understand that my SS check cannot be garnished. However, I am an author also, and I receive small royalty checks from time to time. Can those check be garnished?

The royalty checks are income, so I'm thinking yes, they can be garnished.

(P.S. I'm a published author too. What do you write?)

I've published I Romanced the Stone (Memoirs of a Recovering Hippie), Owen Fiddler, and Between the Storm and the Rainbow. All three are on Amazon.com - I don't get large checks (yet) from my books but I intend on growing in notoriety, of course, so this could turn into a big problem. Maybe I'll have to file bankruptcy?

    What have you published?

Talk with a lawyer? Often the initial consultation is free, or at least it is around here.

I've published an article about a Chicago landmark building for the Chgo Historical Soc, three books on Texas history, one book on Illinois history, and recently a short story about an autistic young man. I started a writers' group at the public library where I work, and hope that will get me back into writing the senior citizen romance I began long ago and/or children's books for which I have ideas.
