    I really need some help!! The collection agency bought this debt from the credit card company, since then they sue me and I agree to pay $80/monthly, but I had familiar problems and could not still paying that amount. Tried to contact the collection agency, the man was very rude by phone and disagree to I pay less money monthly. In the mean time they set up a court date and I were not around, my brother pass away out of country and I could not come back for the court date. Now I have the hearing date next month (may), tried again contact this gentleman in his office, and he was very rude, said he hopelly I stay locked up in jail because I failed to go court. Make report on ftc because this man harrass me. Now I do know what I can do? The amount starts $2700, now this amount is around $7000.
    Please help me!!

    First yes if you don't appear at a court date they win. And a charge will often double or triple with late charges, legal fees and court costs.

    Let me see the guy is "rude" because he will not agree to less terms on a payment that you owe them.
    I may be a little rude to if you owed me money and would not pay, esp after you promised and agreed, but found money to travel out of the country.

    So if they get the judgement they may well garnish your pay, attach your bank accounts and more

    You will not go to jail. That is just a threat
