    Female with one kidney
    Hi,
Can anyone please tell me whether a female of 28 yrs with one kidney have a normal life. Both her kidneys failed around 6 yrs back and she was a donated a kidney by a close relative of hers. Would she be able to conceive? Would pregnancy be a problem for her?

    Rgds,

Pregnancy would not be recommended with only one working kidney and a donated one at that. You see, this woman has to take anti-rejection drugs for the duration of her life, these drugs can affect a pregnancy as well as a developing fetus.

Also, pregnancy increases the use of the function of the kidney, filtration. The kidney would be overworked, not able to filter out toxins, and may put the health of the mother and fetus at risk.

But it does not mean that she won't be able to have a biological child, she can use a surrogate mother if she wants a child of her own meaning ( her egg and her husbands sperm)
