    2004 Mazda 6 service
Just returned from regular oil change service at my local Mazda dealer. I have a 2004 Mazda 6 with 60,000 mile.
Have been told that the following:
New crank seal and drive belt. $440.00
    Transmission Fluid service. 190.00
    Induction/Injection system cleaning. 170.00
    Brake Fluid Service $140.00
    60,000 mile service $446.00

Do these figures seem correct. For a 4 yr old car this to me seems ridiculous!

    Any help much appreciated.

Repair prices would vary from country to country. I am in Canada, so don't know if these figures add up. I haven't had a mazda in a number of years. Changed my vehicle to Subaru outback legacy and I swear to god, the body will go before anytrhing else. It is that awsome with regular maintenance.

It is a given that dealerships are more expensive, as I have found. Are these figures without labour ?

You didn't specify if your car has the 4 or 6 cylinder option...

The front crank seal may well be seeping, but even still, that quote seems a little high. Again, pricing varies significantly from area to area. Call around.

Drive belts wear but just as importanly, they are subject to lots of heat most of the time. Did they say that it was worn or cracking, or just that they want to replace it because it will be off to service that seal? There is a difference.

As for the other services, those are preventative maintenance items. The trans service shouldn't be due yet.

And the 60k service may include many of these items. If your car is giving you any problems, have them addressed directly and seek a second opinion before authorizing any services other than those you already requested.

Consult your owner's manual for normal service intervals.

Thanks for the info... it is the 6 cylinder Mazda 6.
