How do I recover an earring that fell down the bathroom sink drain?

Do not run any water in the sinl!! If you're lucky the earring will be found in the "P" trap. (See Image) under the counter. Remove the "J" bend from the trap and drain it into a bucket. If your luck holds the erring will fall out. If it's not there it's gone through the system. Good luck and I hope you find it. Tom

If you are lucky - and earring is heavy :D - it is still sitting in the trap...

There is the possibility that he ear ring stopped before it got to the trap, so after you take the trap off if you do not find it be sure and look in the pipe that is left that goes up to the lavatory. There is a pop up lever in thee that may have stopped it.
