    How does bail work
    Please explain how bail works. I need to get someone out of jail who has a $10,000 bail.
    How much will this actually cost me?

    Ok all it is is you paying the money gets him out of jail until he or she goes to court or trial. So what your doing is paying that money saying that you will make sure that he will go to the court date that you will make sure he stays out of trouble while on bail and if nothing goes wrong why he is out on bail then once he has been to court and its all said and done you get your money back make sure when you go and set bail that the money is in your name and number so when its time for you to get it back them they will call you and it will only be released to you

    I know that in Texas you have to pay 10% of the total bond amount in order to bond someone out, but know that you are now held responsible for that person showing up to court... that is if you sign on the bond... if they don't show to court the bond company comes after you and whatever you put up for collateral will be taken if you can pay off the rest of the bond or get the person turned in... I know I signed on a bond and had to pay $500.00 to stay out of jail just because the bond company couldn't find my friend... so make sure they'll show up for court and things will be fins... you'll get your money back when all is said and done...

    If you go to a bail bondsman you may get away with paying 10% in cash and pledging some collateral for the rest. Or you may have to put up the whole $10K

    It really depends on several factors

    1. type of bail, some allow you to put up property, others allow use of a bondsmen, others require a percentage to be paid and some require the full amount.

    So you may have to put up the full 10,000 in some areas,
    If you use a bondsmen, the 10 percent *** or 15 percent to some*** you will pay 1000 to 1500, but you don't get that money back it is a fee paid to the bondsment. And if they don't show up for court, you will have to pay the rest to the bondsmen.
