Acting in the best interest of my child
I was raped and had a baby in Texas. I didn't report it to the police and since I knew who the man was I told him when I was 8 months pregnant that The baby was his. HE denied it and I had not further contact with him. The Birth certificate has only my name and no father listed.
I had to get assistance (Welfare, food stamps, medicaid) because I lost my job (no maternity leave).
The Social worker assigned to me in Texas said that My refusal to say who the man is and therefore denying him visiting rights and refusing child support is not acting in the best intrests of my child and they would consider removing her from my custody.
I simply removed myself from the Texas welfare system and moved to a new state, no one here has ever been threatening about it. I want to go back home to Texas but I'm afraid if I need medicaid for my child or food stamps while I look for a new job that they will have CPS take my Daughter from me.
Was the social worker just blowing Hot air or can they really do this only for keeping my kid away from my rapist?

I've delt with the welfair system an they can not take youer child away for those things the onley way they can take youer child is if its being abused or neglected an those things are no form of abuse or neglect the social worker was just being a bit** takeing advantage her power an she probabley gets tierd of seeing people on welfair an because she probabley hates her job an if she hates her job that bad that she's going to treat people that way she needs to stop her job. To take youer kid you would have to be investagated by a dfc worker an the onley way they would take the child from youer home an put it in foster care if its in immediate danger other wise they would assign you a social worker to come to youer home a few times a week.

Just tell them you were raped and do not know who the father is,
Or just tell them you have no idea who they father could be,

Generally, whenever you apply for public assistance on behalf of a child, one condition is that you cooperate with and assist them in tracking down the father so that he can be pursued to pay child support. If you refuse then they can deny you further assistance.

Thanks for the answers. I did tell them his first and last name and a basic physical Description. In the Citiy I used to live there are thirty p eople with that name in the phone book. They expected me to have a Social Security number!
HEre I told them I was raped and they gave me a different form, and never bothered me about it again. Texas though was not no kind.
