It could be an indication to poor circulation. Thyroid problems, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis diabetes, carpal tunnel and many other things. If the numbness is accompanied by vision problems, or an entire side of your body is numb you need to see a doctor immediately.
Numbness isn't really that harmless. It happens if you sit or are on one side too long. However if it's sudden numbness you should be concerned.
There are things to do to prevent numbness:
-Quit smoking [this created poor blood circulation and you'll end up feeling numb in your hands, arms, toes and legs]
- Exercise regularly; walking, running, swimming or any basic cardio will increases blood circulation.
- Take a break from repetitive tasks; knitting, typing, hammering, etc.
Numbness also can be a warning sign of an imminent stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA), a mini-stroke that temporarily causes symptoms of a major stroke such as paralysis or blurred vision. Without proper medical treatment, a TIA can lead to a full-blown stroke that may cause permanent physical or mental impairment.
It's great to have information about this, but the only person that would tell you exactly what it is, is your doctor- schedule an appointment soon or go to your nearest walk-in clinic!

Not enough sleep and repetitive task do that to you m'darlin.
You need to take a break- stretch a little, and make room and time to catch some z's.
Oh course your body feels heavy your depriving it from it's needs.

Really so this can be the cause of numbness and tingling? Can it be vitamin dificiencies, maybe I should ask my doc for an overall check up, its tough working these night shifts and then I have a 19 month year old running around keeping me busy all day

Could be any of the things Sarah mentioned.
A pinched nerve is another possibility.
But I'd definitely get to a dr for a full check up because something like numbness is often a preliminary sign of something more serious.
Better to err on the side of caution.

The best thing to do when you have a health concern is to seek medical attention.
Numbness is normal but re-occurring and sudden numbness can be considered a red flag.
Keep me posted on how it goes ;)
