    Bathroom faucet
I've run into a problem changing an old bathroom faucet and need advice on how to secure it in a sink that originally had the holes drilled to close to the basin. It's a two handle faucet which is secured by the large nylon nuts. But, because the holes are mis-located, the nuts can't thread securely. Is there some sort of a rubber or nylon washer made for situations like this. I've got a couple ideas, just not the material.

    Thanks

Fined a piece of tubing of some sort that will slip over the pipe coming through the lavatory and cut two pieces about one inch long each. Now get four washers that will slip over the pipes coming through the lavatory but the two pieces of tubing will not slip through the washers. Two of the washers you will have to cut some off one side so they will fit flat against the lavatory, now slip on one of the tubes and now one of the other washers and now use the plastic nut that came with the faucet.

I hope you understand what I am trying to tell you. You might make the short tubes out of 3/4 inch copper.

    Hi rjay

If u remove the washer part of nut, will it fit?

Get a fender washer that will fit over mounting thread. Cut one side flat so it sits flat on sink.

Put a rubber washer mounting thread, then metal washer. Screw on plastic nut.

If plastic nut will not work, buy metal nut with same threading.

    Good luck

You need to be a bit creative here...

Go to Home Depot, electrical department and buy large, skinny washer used to compensate for accidentally knocking out wrong size knock-out from electrical panel. They cost about a buck for a pair. If they are too large they can be trimmed with aviation snips.
