This is so, sad. And it makes me very angry. People go tot the pet shops and purchase these dogs, some even unaware of what they are supporting.

Some thinking they are doing the dogs a favor by buying them. To the contrary they may buy that one dog, but in turn are killing many more.

When will these idiots learn that dogs are not disposable objects. But kind loving beautiful pets that deserve a great life, the best there is and all the love in the world.

Purebred or mutt all dogs deserve love its time they start being treated like the true beautiful gift they are.

I know, it's awful, I;ve seen bits and pieces everywhere but I think that video sums it up pretty well.

It's not just the pet shops either a lot of 'breeders' do the same thing.
Even if you are purchasing a dog privately always ask to see the parents of the puppies, view the puppies AND the parents registration papers. Only registered breeders will have these papers.

Your new puppy should also have vet certificates, and charts showing when their next vaccinations and worming are due.

It is preffered that when you purchase a puppy you have knowledge of the breed and it's common problems. This way you can make sure the appropriate health checks have been done.

I'll use poodles as an example: My mum has been breeding poodles for many years and their most common problem is blindness (PRA) she does not breed from dogs that have been tested to carry this gene.

If you are just after a lovable family pet though and aren't fussed about breeds and certificates an animal shelter is the best way to go. All of their animals are health and temperament tested.

Got mine from a friend... and I don't think there are such things in mauritius. The worst thing that recently happened about dogs is that there are people trying to steal purebred dogs and sell them, or breed them to make fortune. :(

If you know where the dog came from (friend or relative) then you don't get the angry voice from me lol

That's what I was worried about when we moved house. We aren't in a terrible area but it's not one of the best either. I have 2 purebred show dogs with a 3rd on the way soon. They are never allowed in the backyard when we aren't home.
