    Do I need to replce the inlet valve on my washer?
    Hi,

    Our washer was leaking at inlet valve, we tried to tighten it.. but we think it might of striped the valve.. We tried plumbers tape, but it still leaked... Do we need to replace the valve, and if so is it easy to do?

    When you say the valve was leaking, do you mean the place where the hose is attached? If so did you just tighten it or did you remove the hose and check that there was a rubber washer in the hose? I am assume that the valve where the hose is attached is made of nylon, did you look at the threads to see if there are stripped or damaged? Assuming that you are speaking of the hose connection, the thing that makes the water tight seal is the rubber washer, not the threads.

    Please be more specific. What valve are you referring to? The hose bib in the wall that the hose connects to or the valve in the washer? What did you tighten? The bonnet packing nut or something in the washer? Let me know, Tom

    It seems to me that you stripped the hose thread. Am I correct ? Can you snap a photo of the leaking valve and post it ?
