    IRS Wage Garnishment
I live in Indiana and I received notice wage garnishment for owed IRS taxes. I qualify as married filing separately and technically the amount to be garnished per the IRS table is $389.58 ($237.50 + $152.08 for each exemption) My concern is if I had more than once exemption can the IRS take nearly $1200 of my pay leaving me with nothing or doesn't the standard maximum amount of 25% allowed for garnishment in in Indiana appliesd.
THe IRS is willing to work with me to get me on a payment arrangement, but I am worried about this first amount. My payroll dept can't tell me what it is until tomorrow.

You probably already have an answer from your payroll, but the garnishment will be lifted once you agree to a payment plan with the IRS.
