I have a Whirlpool top freezer and fridge ice building up in the freezer section leaking water into the fridge. I have cleaned the fridge and freezer section , I think the drain hose may be frozen or blocked . How do I clean the line??

You would have to access the line, these lines run down the back of the fridge into a drip pan that collects water from the coils where it is evaporated. You might have to totally defrost the freezer or use a hair dryer being careful not to overheat and melt any plastic, if you have a lot of ice build up in there. Otherwise you can try to pour some hot water into that line and clear it that way. They can collect debris over time and clog up. I would clean out the freezer and go from there, seeing if there is anything blocking the top of the drain line, try some hot water and see if it drips into the bottom pan. You could also try a can of compressed air to help blow the line clear..

If you can get me the model of the fridge I can try and look up the parts break down and see if I can provide you some more assistance in where that line goes and how to access it and even forward you a parts schematic if I can find one, usually a little searching I can get lucky... Every make and model is different so its hard to say exactly how yours is run. Usually they are plastic lines but some can be copper and once you get it semi clear the can of compressed air with a nozzle attached would not damage the line at all. Usually they can be found in the computer sections of the stores, they use them for blowing dust out of electronic equipment. Use the red plastic nozzle to get a nice supply of air into that line once you get it open to clean out any remaining debris... also making sure the bottom where it drips into the pan isn't clogged with anything that is preventing that line from draining, it could be clogged at the bottom not necessarily at the freezer part.

I got the line clear using boiling water and I used a bbq line cleaner from the top and bottom seem's to have worked the water is flowing through the line into the catch pan at the bottom of the fridge. Thanks again for the help Bill... Jim
