Does smoking affect getting a job (atleast the job you want)?
    Hello ~

I have been assigned a report topic of "Does smoking affect your chances of obtaining a job, or atleast getting the job you want". I DON'T smoke, though I know many people who do... I also have my own openion of smoking, however, this is not to be my openionated report, it is to be of numerous other openions, especially the thoughts of professional people regarding this issue, therefore if anyone would care to share those openions, including the reasons, I would be very appreciative... This information would be compiled by me to form this detailed report, and credit given to various people.:rolleyes::eek:

    Many thanks in advance

This is a great topic. But first let me take a smoke break and I will get back with you, time 1227 am. Okay I am back now and its 1240. I just took 13 minutes to smoke and stop off at the mens rooms to wash my hands. Most jobs are 40 hours of work a week. If I only take 3 better make that 4 smoke breaks a day that's about 52 minutes extra I am not doing my job a day. There are 52 weeks in the year and say I get two weeks of vacation each year. That leaves 50 weeks worth of work ( 250 days) and say you get another 10 days for holidays for the year, that leaves you working 240 days a year. So now you look at the 4 smoke breaks a day and lets round the minutes down to ten for the sake of numbers. I spend 40 minutes a day smoken that's 200 minutes of non working time a week, OK so look at the numbers
    Days worked per year 240
    Hours worked per year 1920
Hours spent smoken per year 160

That would leave me only working 1760 hours a year
That would in a years time take away 4 weeks of the year smoken.
Not to mention if I get sick its take us longer to heal than someone who dose not smoke.
And if you employer pays you health insurance your rates are going to be higher that he pays on you. And yes there are some companys that will state in the job req. THIS IS A SMKE FREE BUSINESS.
