    Swollen finger joint
Ok, it's me again. Another quick question. About 4-5 weeks ago I had a direct hit in kickball. Stop laughing. Haha Anyway, my shoulder popped and I was worried about that. It got better and no problems, but then I realized my finger was continuing to hurt. How long do jammed fingers last? I am starting to wonder if it is even jammed.
-almost 5 weeks since it happened
-cannot pull finger all the way down towards palm without hurting
-bad pain when I hit it wrong still (i.e. using only that finger without thinking to turn on car blinker, forgetting it hurts and trying to pop it, catching the finger on clothing)
-still a little swollen and bruised.

I have gotten mixed reviews from friends. Some say to go to doctor, others say a jammed finger can last this long and to not waste money, while others say that even if it is broken, they cannot do anything to help so just sit it out.

Picture posted. It is the knuckle in between the third finger and pinkie finger. It is swollen and somewhat hard to the touch on the outside of knuckle like something is there, but doesn't hurt too bad to push on it.

It probably is out of joint and will need to be popped back in place. Your friends are right, if it is broken, the docs can't do anything about it. If you have insurance, I would go to a clinic where it can be xrayed to be sure. It will always hurt as long as it is out of joint.

Ok, I didn't even think of it being out of joint since it moves fine and I only have pain at times. I do have insurance just lacked the time. I guess I will get it checked out. Thanks
