Can a business that needs to have it's employees bonded to enter customer's home, legally hire someone who has not been bonded? I stupidly signed a contract with a business before they had all my information - insurance, registration, background check- and decided the job was not for me. They are telling me I signed the contract to work for them (but telling me they won't hire me now) and will sue me for breach of contract!

You signed a contract, what were the terms of that contract? Was it contingent upon being bonded etc. Generally, bonding is done by the company, not by the individual.

It sounds like they needed a body for a job and you qualified, by changing your mind you may have lost them the contract which is why the threat to sue.

Sounds like you need an attorney.

Thanks. I think that is what I'm going to do. Talk to an attorney. They don't do the background check themselves and that's also why I decided not to go with them after thinking about it. I spent $75.00 myself to get it for them. I still haven't received it from the state.
