Do I still have a chance after a bad first date?
We've been texting for a couple weeks. We have a lot in common and he told my friend that he liked me.

The first date didn't really go well, though. We went to the movies and didn't talk much at all.

Do I still have a chance? Do you think he'd want to see me again to get to know me better or should I just give up on it all together?

If he like you he should. Movies is some where I would go on my first date unless you do something else besides that because you don't get a chance to talk at the movies.

Next time try something like bowling, rollerskating, maybe the park, etc. Any where you can get a chance to talk while your on the date.

Btw, if he doesn't call you can always give him a call. After all the date wasn't horrible you two just didn't get a chance to talk.

Movies are always a bad idea for a first date. As it is, you do not know each other very well and then you pick a location where you won't be able to talk.

Liz28's ideas are good, but I would make it even simpler. Go to a coffee shop and talk. When you talk, you will find out each other's hobbies and it will be easier to set up the next date.
