It depends on what look you want for your photos, if you are going to be shooting outside or in, and a number of different things.

First thing would be to decide what setting you'd like the picture to be in.

My family had pictures taken every year. My favorite shot is the one where we're in khaki's and white button up shirts. Its very casual, yet classy.

My father is the jean and t-shirt kind of man. I think it would be a hard time to get him in kakis let alone a button up shirt. That's a very good idea but I don't think my dad will get in a button up shirt. Don't want the pictures to be fake you know. He has always just worn a plain shirt. Different colors just plain.

Then why don't you go off that? All of you wear jeans and different colored plain shirt?

You could do "rainbow of family flavors!" I like that idea! :)

Yea I like that one too... :). Just wanted different ideas. Thanks for your help. I just tured 22 years old and my family has not had a family picture since I was maybe 4 or 5. For Christmas we are going to get the whole family. My parents, brother and sisters and their familys. In total of 13 people. I can't wait to have that picture taken

    That's awesome!

You know... I saw a family picture once where everyone brought one of their favorite items. For example, if someone played the flute, they brought the flute. If one liked to skateboard, they brought their skateboard. The Mother brought a box of detergent and the Dad brought his fishing pole... You could do something like that - bring one "prop" and incorporate it into the picture...

Sounds like its about time you all had a family picture! SO exciting! I'm an amateur photographer and enjoy capturing moments... :) Have fun!
