I have a rebuilt Husky Power Washer which I purchased from Home Depot about a year ago. We have only used it two or three times. It is model number HU80520. The problem is that it starts really strong for about a minute or so and then loses power drastically to where there is not enough power either in the pump or the motor itself.
Can anyone offer any possible solutions as to what could be causing this?

Is this a gas or electric power washer? Do you hear the motor slowing down or do you just see less water flow?

It is a gas powered washer. For the first 20 seconds it really runs strongly. Then it slows down by about maybe 10 % in the way the motor sounds and in the amount of pressure that seems to come from the hose.

The pump is a direct drive to the motor, so if the motor is slowing down the pump can not buid up any pressure.

Now of course if the pump unloader is not working proper and there can be too much back pressure building into the pump, which of course will bind up the motor.

Is there any water coming out of any of the pressure release valves on the pump.

Is the pump "jumping"

Not familiar with this specific unit ( home depo does not make one) they sell varoius units.

If the pump a horizonal or a vertical pump, on a horizonal unit, it wll be held up with 4 bolts normally, take that pump off and see if the engine rules fine without it.

The pump is not jumping. At first there is adequate pressure and the motor is running good. Like I said though, in about 20 seconds of run time, the motor seems to slightly slow down and the pressure drops off some. There is a thing called the thermal releif valve located on the bottom of the pump. I never looked to see if there was any water coming out of there. I need to check that next time I start it up. By the way, If you go to Google search page and type in Husky model number HU80520, you can find a repair sheet page there and it gives an exploded view of all the parts. If you find the time to do that it would be nice. You have been a real help so far. Thanks for your help.
