    Condo ownership and pet deposits
My condominium board has posted a new rule in the lobby of my new condominium. This rule states that that there is a $1000.00 pet deposit fee per pet . This is not included in my condo docs, rules and regulations or bylaws. My condo docs do say that I am responsible for any damage my pet does. Can they levy an additional pet deposit, and where in Florida condo law would this be addressed?

The HOA can pass such a regulation. They cannot make it retroactive, but can make it effective going forward.

Good info so far but tell us are you renting or do you own? What would be the actions that would cause the deposit to be forfeit by this rule. Where would the money go?
