Trying to remove spout from body on kohler k-10412
    Hi

I am trying to replace o rings and bearings from a kit kohler sent me for a leaking faucet.
I have removed handle bonnet and valve no problem The instructions say "Hold the base of the spout and pull up to remove spout from body" when I try to do this it comes up approx 1/4" and then stops I have given it a couple good tugs and can't get it off. Am I just not pulling hard enough? Don't want to break it. I searched forum for same part and nobody seemed to have a hard time getting the body from the spout thanks.

If vyou have removed the bonnet nut . (see image)the only thing that should be holding the spout would be the "O" rings. Sometimes the "O" rings swell and grip the valve body sides. Give it a good pull while you're twisting it.
    Good luck, Tom

Thanks for the reply yes I have the bonnet nut removed can't figure out what's wrong valve is also out. When I try to pull it upward it goes about 1/4" and then comes to a solid stop Im afraid I'm going to break something it is resisting way harder than a o ring would resist. When I get to the point that it stops there is a good solid thud thanks for the reply

My cutaway shows the spout held by the bonnet nut. Does your faucet look any different? When you pull up and it comes up a quarter inch does it sound like it's hitting metal? Let me know, Tom

Mine looks just like the cutaway you posted and the bonnet nut is off it must be off to remove the valve. I don't know if I would say it sounds like it hitting metal more of a thud but it defentialy comes to a sudden and solid stop I'm a pretty big guy and was putting a fair amount of effort trying to pull it up I could pull harder but I don't want to break anything

    Thanks

    OK Aggets,
I think I might know ehat's hanging you up. Here's a image of a Kohler deck faucet similar to yours. Note the only thing securing the spout's the bonnet nut. Now look down and see the diverter flap. I believe that's what's binding the spout. Put some leverage behind it and lever the spout up. If the diverter's damaged it can always be replaced. Let me know if it works for you. Good luck, Tom
