How to fill IRS for a dual-status working abroad
I'm a new resident of the US (Green card). I've been in the US about one month last year but, because of the crisis I decided to retun to my work in my born country.
    My questions are :
What date do I take for the beginning of my resident status is it when I entered the US or when my green card was issued ?

I'm married and have a daugther but my wife and my daugther don't have the green card.
What kind of credit or exemption I'm illegible to ?

Your residency starting date is the first day you entered the U.S. on green card. You need not file tax return if your total income in the U.S. was less than $3500 in 2008.
Else you will file dual status return. You will not get exemption for your wife and chid.

If you did not have any income during the period you were in the U.S. then you do not file any tax return.

I think that for a resident alien all incomes must be reported. And I think I must fill as a nonresident and as a resident.
    I need your help please.

As a green card holder, you are liable for income taxes on ALL world-wide income from the date you were issued the green card.

If you are married, you can file jointly with your wife and CHOOSE to be treated as a resident alien for all of 2008, but you cannot claim your daughter as a dependent unless she was also in the U.S. for at least part of 2008.

You CAN claim the Foreign Tax Credit (Form 1116) for taxes paid to Morocco on income also taxed by the U.S.
