Can I contest a divorce that I did not know about?
My ex-husband and I have been separated for 11 years, after 17 years married. Have tried a few times over the years to start divorce but due to my fear of him (abusive) and lack of funds and his perception that I was not entitled to any assets, the attempts failed. He called me about 5 years ago and said he wanted a divorce. His lawyer sent papers and I had someone look them over, changed several things on them and did not sign them, but sent them back. I never heard anything and when I called his lawyer's office I was told that they no longer represented him.
I recently found out that he remarried this past January... I am assuming that he got the divorce by saying that he was unable to locate me. This is a lie. He has been in contact with both my mother and my older sister over the years and anytime he wanted to get a message to me or our son's he would do this through them. I am also on a few of his nieces on myspace. So there is no question that I was not at all difficult to locate.
My question is, Can I contest the divorce on the grounds that he lied when he said he was unable to locate me? I do want the divorce but want to contest it for monetary reasons. He is living in "our" house with his new wife and has never given a dime to help support his sons (now age 24 & 27).
    Thank you.

If he really is married, and really is divorced, you need to find the court it was done in, and yes you may be able to if you can prove they lied.
