    Im sick of being sick
    Hi everyone!

Im new to this but I need to get all of this out. Where do I start... well I've had the worst 16 months of my life. Firstly I had to have my thyroid removed(had 20stitches across my neck) as I had a benign nodule, then I had a mastoidectomy 2 months after that(bone removed from my skill), when I had this I wasn't even near recovered from my previous surgery. I had my hair shaved and 25 staples on my head. I then broke my ankle 4 weeks later and had surgery as I needed pins to fix the break. And last week I was diagnosed with Phsoriotic Arthritis and I'm now on methotrexate for life and it is just draining me.
All of this has me so depressed. Im always crying when I'm on my own and don't really go out with my friends any more. I do have wonderful support from my boyfriend who I live with but I think is getting sick of being sick all the time. Im thinking of going to talk to someone as I'm so down. Its just one thing after another.
Im glad I got that off my chest, thanks for reading!

I'm so sorry, Laoise. Its amazing that you've been put through so much and are still making it through each day!

Congrats on being so strong and surviving it all! {{HUGS}} Don't be too hard on yourself for moments of weakness--we've all had them--but maybe some professional help is in order so that you can feel better and more confident. Be proud of yourself for all you've gone through! :)

    Hi Laoise ,
You have really been through some awful things lately.I am sorry life is throwing you such a bad hand.
On the up side, you are here to tell about it.

I have thyroid disease so I know that the medication often has to be adjusted over time to compensate for the lack of thyroid hormone. From a purely medical standpoint,I would have my t levels checked as maybe you need a medication adjustment. The depression could be hormonal as well as the issue of chronic pain and suffering.

I went through a year such as yourself years ago and my doctor thought at the time I should be treated for post traumatic stress disorder. It is a trauma and the stress has a way of staying long after the scars have healed.

I think you are wise to seek help, and know that it takes sometimes up to a year to fully recover from any major medical treatment.

I think you will be fine once you get some counseling.Clearly, you are strong and determined so I think you will fare well with some therapy and perhaps medication.

I hope you get well soon.

Well I don't think I could possible take any more meds! I've been on methotrextate injections for the last 2 weeks which I have to take for the rest of my life. Took my second one yesterday and I can't move today, I was getting sick all night too. Don't know if I can handle this, even if it stops my arthritis progressing. Anyone else on these injections??
Oh and I forgot to mentioned my granny died 2 weeks ago too and I miss her soooo much:(

Hi Laoise... you poor love, I am so sorry for your pain, I hope you improve very soon.

I have to commend you on your bravery. I know I wouldn't have been that brave.

I know what you mean when you say your sick of being sick, I have a similar problem... not quite to your extent though.

People do stop asking after a while cause they know what the answer will be... which ofcoarse makes you feel worse.

Naturally your feeling down ,who wouldn't after all that you have suffered.

I think you should go back to your GP querry the meds that your taking... the fact that your feeling bad most of the time... explain how you feel, the crying etc...

Listen to what he has to say, if nessesary ask him for some sort of pick me up, just to help you through this difficult time.

Maybe suggest talking to a counseller, this will help you to get things out in the open and deal with how you feel about each problem in your life right now, if nothing else it will empty your head of all the things that must be buzzing around it.

Sadley the way you feel has rubbed off on your boyfriend, which was bound to happen, he's obviously suffered with you, is it possible that one of you ideally yourself could go for some restbite... maybe stay with a friend or member of the family, just to give each of you your own space for a while, I think that's all the problem is.

You both just need a break from this very strained routine, if only to recharge your batteries... so to speak.

I am positive things will improve very soon, takecare of yourself.
