In the movie, "The Banger Sisters" I heard the doors for the first time and had a sort-of positive reaction. They are idolized for many reasons that I haven't felt inclined to pay attention to. I mean, their music is fine if I'm stoned and drunk.

The Doors may not be overrated. I hope a Doors fan comes forward and explains why they're a great band.

Jimi Hendrix is in a similar state of idolization, but I like his stuff, it has melody and I can relate to his lyrics. Nirvana has the likability factor for me too. Hmmm, why do the good die young?

I have thought a lot about this. When it comes to entertainment, so many who are considered greats in their field have died young. Add to the list - Janis Joplin, James Dean, Heath Ledger, Bob Marley, Buddy Holly, Tupak, Biggie Smalls, Bruce Lee, Jim Belushi, even President Kennedy.

As a society, we have a very short attention span. Someone who is considered the greatest entertainer one day eventually becomes the punch line of a joke. The best example I can think of would be Michael Jackson. But to a degree, everyone famous experiences the fall from grace. No one stays on top forever. By dying young, these people have had their public image frozen in time. The public never had the opportunity to become bored of them. Add to that the human tragedy of dying young and the result is instant icon status.

Are Elvis and the Beatles going to eventually fall from grace, like many already have?
