    No sound on xp
    Hi
My sound on xp was working fine then yesterday I had to unplug the speakers to move the computer from one room to another, and when I plugged the speakers back in the same place, I now have no sound.
Does anyone have any ideas please
    Cheers

Are you sure you plugged them into the correct sockets? Most sound cards have three or four sockets. The speakers usually plug into the green (I think) socket of the sound card.

(at least that's the first thing that comes to mind.)

You said, "the same place", so if you're sure then double-check and make sure it's plugged in tight. Make sure all of the cables are seated properly.

Are the speakers powered by line current (probably)? If so, make sure they're plugged in.

Did you open the computer case? If you did, you might want to do it again and reseat the sound card (if it's an add-in card).

Check also to see if any wires inside are touching the sound car or any sound hardware looks good visually

You should chek if he cabals are inserted correctly. If all looks well then you should try playing something like music and then mess around with the cables. If sound comes out the cables could have gotten damaged during the move. I hope you get it sorted out
