Olsen gas furnace -- hear a dripping sound?
Hi all. I'm a newbie here but thought I would ask a question that may resolve a problem I've had for the last two months.

First some background. Last October, I renovated my basement and installed a two bedroom basement apartment. I closed in the furnace area. My furnace is an Olsen gas furnace that is approximately 15 years old. I suspect that when it was installed the previous owners cheaped out because it doesn't vent through the chimney (too cheap to put in new liner). Instead, there's PVC piping from the furnace along the ceiling and it vents out to the front of the house (probably 8 feet of piping). Prior to the basement renos, I didn't have any problems.

Two months ago, the tenant living in the room next to the furnace told me about a water leak. I had first thought it was coming from outside since we had some thawing days. Nothing worked. Just today, I happened to be home sick and noticed that shortly after the furnace fires up and before the blower comes on, I heard a dripping noise in the room directly above the furnace room (and where the exhaust pipe travels to the outside). Is the exhaust a possibility as the source of my leak? Does this type of furnace have condensation? Any ideas?

For the record, the dripping sound happened every time the furnace fires up and right as the blower starts so it's not like this was a one off experience.

Yes it has condensation and can be leaking from any joint on the pipe. If it is in the exoust vent then you will get the most water right after the unit fire goes off and you can baybe find it then
