Living and working in two different states
If you work in a state and pay more taxes than required in the state where you live will you get a refund back from your resident state for the difference?

If you are present in a state, then any income earned during this period, must be reported to the state.

To your resident state, you must report your worldwide income for the year or for the residency period. If you paid taxes to another state, then you will claim credit for those taxes.

    Hi beyceo

We live in NY and my grandson works in Ct. Did our taxes with turbo tax.they wanted $70.00 for each state return.

Went to H&R Block, got both returns done for $85.00. Refund from Ct. was more then had to pay to NY.

Best bet is to have an account do the 2 state forms.

    Good luck

    Chuck
