    Landlord charging extra
We signed a lease for a month to month rental in Ontario and signed for 60 days notice.
We were also told that the place would be ready to move in and it wasn't - no heat upstairs I n the middle of December-(He later put in space heaters two weeks later and it was around -20 beforehand)

We found a much better place ,and this place is literally falling apart -I can try to get pictures-
He also told us an electrician is coming in and he wasn't an electrician, our fuses constantly blow and an entire wall of our house hasn't had electricity for over a month.

The upstairs constantly leaks, covering the entire flight of stairs in water whenever it rains and it has no railing

So we gave him a month notice and we had already paid him last. He then told us to pay an extra $400 because of moving out so early.

He has never ever given us one receipt for the 5 months we have lived here.

In the original lease it said everything was included - heat hydro cable internet-
But we've had to get our own internet because we blow through his bandwidth twice - and he suggested that we get our own internet for this reason-

So what do we do? I know we signed a lease stating we had to give 60 days notice, but this place is barely livable.

You lived in it for 5 months, you could have lived in for an extra month. He's not charging you extra, he's charging you for what you agreed to 60 days notice.

However, that's now moot. If you fell you can document the lack of heat, utilities etc. then tell him to sue you for the difference and you will show that he didn't provide a habitale premises.
