Should I live with an ex?
My ex girlfriend and I have been broken up for almost three years. After a long break we have developed and maintained a healthy platonic friendship. The opportunity has arisen to rent a studio living space in a large house with 4 other roommates all of which are close friends of mine, one of them being her. In all other areas this is everything I've wanted in a living space. Is it a good idea to move in?

I don't think I could ever do this...

My answer would be a fairly strong NO!

I couldn't do it, let alone think about any potential relationships. I couldn't date someone who lived with their ex.

My opinion would be that this sits entirely on you-- can you comfortably live in a house where your ex is resident? Ironically enough, I had a very similar situation last year. My ex and I dated for 2 years and had a very intense relationship. We broke up (6 years ago now), and eventually developed a close (but platonic) friendship. Last year I needed a place to move for about 6 months until my fiancé and I could move in together and my ex had a house and was renting the basement (there were 2 other roommates as well). It turned out to be the perfect situation. He got on my nerves perhaps a little more than the other "normal" roommates did, but he was fine with it, his girlfriend was fine with it, my fiancé was fine with it, and we still keep in touch and our friendship is none the worse. In the end, it comes down to the dynamics between the two of you and whether you can make it work. It worked for me!

How long is the "long break" and the platonic friendship?

Depends on the relationship, I can think of an ex that I wouldn't have a problem living with.

How many languages can you say the word: "NO"?

But some can argue that it depends on how badly the break up is. I have some friends who became best friends with their ex, but it's extremely rare.
