I’ve been using tramadol as a pain reliever for my illness for a few years now. If I switch to another medication and stop tramadol, should I be worried of a withdrawal? Help, please?

The information sent by tickle is right. My suggestion is do not stop using tramadol suddenly. Specially that you mentioned that you've been with it for quite some time now. 'Cause if you do, expect physical withdrawal symptoms like sleeping problems, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, anxiety and more. Tramadol is associated with the development of a physical dependence and a withdrawal syndrome.

Tramadol causes typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures.

The atypical withdrawal effects are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake.

Symptoms may include anxiety, anguish, pins and needles, sweating, and palpitations.
