    Married couple filing taxes
    Hi,
My husband lives in PA and I live in NY and we are both non-resident aliens.
Last year he was on PA address but moved to Maryland for three months. This was the only time he earned income last year.
I lived in Masschusetts for five months, with him in Maryland for three months (only time with him) and in NY for the last four months (I started earning only in these last four months).

My primary bank account is in PA and the house in PA is in joint lease for both of us. However, my W2 form from my firm has my NY address (lease only in my name).

With all this and the difference in state taxes, I am not sure if we should file the taxes together or separetely.

    Can someone please advise?

    Thanks.

If you are present in a state, then any income earned during this period, must be reported to the state. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: Working or Living in Two or More states
