    Resident Tax details
    Hi,

I came to US on 28th June 2008, so for the Tax yr 2008 I stayed in US for 186 days - I will be resident. My questions is -

When I file my Tax - should I file the Tax return for the wages in W2

Should I show my income which I received in India between Jan and June ?

    Thx

If you are siingle, then you will file dual status tax return. You will not report India income on the tax return.

If you are filing joint return as residents, then both of you must declare your worldwide income. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Citizen or Resident with Foreign Income

With a joint tax return you will probably owe less U.S. tax because you can claim the standard deduction of $10,900.
