Steps towards working in Human Resources
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but any help will be greatly appreciated! I am graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology (and Classics) and have been looking into human resources. I've found that some universities offer certificate programs in Human Resources Management. Looking through job openings, I am not seeing any certificates being listed as requirements for hire, though. Would obtaining a certificate be worthwhile? Also, is there any difference in getting the certificate from a university or community college? I appreciate any advice on which steps to take. Thanks in advance.

Yes. Having the Certificate will definitely get you in the door for an interview. Every little bit helps these days in getting that interview.

I do not even have a bachelors but have been in the HR field for 13 years. Started as a recruiter and low I am an HR Manager. I would encourage you to sit for your PHR certification. You can contact your local community college as they probably have a class that prepares you to sit for the exam. The one I took was a 12 week class meeting one evening a week and it cost around $800 for the course and then another couple hundred to sit for the exam. This, combined with your degree, will look great on a resume.
