Connecting a DVD to Direct TV
I am having trouble getting a picture or anything on my dvd player, it came with 2 connections (one with red, yellow and white) and another one with (2 colors)

    Should I have anything else?

The red and white are the two stereo channels (audio). The yellow is a "composite video" (the video signal). You need to get an RCA cable and connect them to comparable connectors (of the same color) on the TV. If the TV doesn't have any such connectors, you may be out of luck.

The cable will be the same on both ends.

Once you connect it to the TV, you need to set the TV to receive a signal from that input. This is usually done with your remote control or from a button labeled "Signal" or something similar.
