    Discolored Part of Finger
I noticed that the joint near the top of my left index finger was a little discolored late last night/this morning. I didn't think much of it at the time, but when I woke up today with my arm numb from sleeping on it, I noticed it was darker. It feels a little tingly on and, and it might be numb, but that's only from running another finger over it, I'm don't want to poke it. It doesn't hurt, but it does feel strange. I don't know how stiff it is because I'm trying not to move it. The way it feels is really annoying, almost like it's itchy and I want to scratch it and rub it. I'm not sure how to describe the coloring of it, it's not red or purple alone, but a color in between. It's not blue. It's not really bright but a deep color. It's kind of hard to tell because the area around it keeps changing color. Like when I was holding my arm up the skin was yellow and I could see it better, and when I put that arm at my side it the blood was flowing better and it blends in. I can still make it out though because it's a little bit darker than the rest. It's also not a large spot, it doesn't completely reach both sides of the finger, but it almost does.

I haven't done anything to bruise it, I haven't hurt my hands or fingers recently, and I haven't been bitten by anything there. It particularly worries my because for the past year or so I've been waking up with my arms numb from sleeping on them a lot, and because also in the past year I've had poor circulation. It hasn't really been good, at least in my toes but it's gotten worse. I wasn't always this way but now if I rest my chin on my arm my arm will get numb, if I just rest it palm down on the table, if I have legs crossed my leg will, or I'm sitting down with my legs crossed my foot will. That's all I can think of. I know it's probably (and hopefully) nothing, but I'm really freaking out about this because either way I probably won't be taken to a doctor.

Sorry if there's any mistakes or rambling, I'm typing with one hand and I tried to be as detailed as possible.

I don't see a way to edit my post (did check FAQ) so I'm going to try to reply. It's more than just that part of finger now, blood does not appear to be getting through my hand. My other fingers particularly the middle and ring on that side are numb as well. I keep shaking it and running it under hot water. The middle of that palm is also a little numb while the thumb is the most normal.

Time to visit the doctor or the ER, this sounds as though it may be a vascular problem and that not enough blood may be getting to this part of your body.

I have a discolored tooth that my dentist says has been caused by nerve damage. Is it possible to reverse the discoloration? Also, I rinse my mouth with baking soda. Could that have caused the discoloration? Is there any danger in rinsing my mouth with baking soda?
