    College debt
I have recently been contacted by a collection agency regarding a debt that I thought I had cleared up 5 years ago regarding a student loan. I was told by my bank that my credit is good and that I have no outstanding owings but this company insists that I own. Is there anyway that I may own something to a creditor and my bank just doesn't have that information?

Sure - not all companies will report to a credit agency until they are ready to move on something. It makes a good bargaining chip with people with otherwise good credit.

However, you need to verify the accuracy of this collection. It wouldn't be the first company in history to 'troll' for money by claiming debts that may or may not have actually existed.
