Do I need a new Thermostat?
    :( Here’s my problem:

I have a basic thermostat. It's the one that has the needle on the right side.
I set it to 78 deg. And my AC unit will not turn off until it reaches 74 deg.'s:confused:

Then when the temperature gets to 76 deg.'s my AC starts back up again!
(hence with out the temperature reaching 78 degrees)
It seems to be on a timer depending on the temperature outside it usually
Runs ON and OFF evry 10-15 minutes.

Could it be that my thermostat may be going out?
Or does it have something to do with the blower and AC unit??

Any suggestions or tips?

    Thanks in advance!

    Mercury t-stat or snap contacts?

Mercury needs to be level to read correctly.

Look into an accurate thermometer, then adjust the readings on the t stat to match it,

Numbers on the stat don't mean a thing unless they are accurate, or just rub the #'s off anf put a warmer and cooler arrows
