    Paying extras after child support
I have a quick question regarding pay extras after I pay my child support. I do have a child support order against me and I pay it every month to the state of NY, however now my ex is telling me I have to pay for my son's summer camp. At first I thought she was asking me to help pay for half, but she is expecting me to pay all of it.
I looked over my support order and it says nothing about child care expenses or any "add-ons". So I'm not sure what my responsibility is. Of course I don't mind paying half, that seems fair, but I am wondering if I am obligated for any extras after my child support. I would like to have the correct info before talking with her again. Thanks for any help.

If you had legal representation to handle your divorce, you should check with your attorney. My guess is you have correctly interpreted the agreement and your wife is "playing" you. However, if your wife does not have the financial wherewithal to pay for any of the summer camp expense and you have the funds, then you should, in my opinion, do the right thing and foot the whole bill.

This should have been addressed in your divorce or custodial agreement(you didn't specify if you and the child's mother had ever been married). For example, my husband's divorce paperwork states as follows:
    A. [Respondent] shall pay X amount of dollars per month to [Petitioner].
    B. [Petitioner] shall be solely responsible for any variable expenses occurred for the children.

That clearly says his ex-wife has to pay for any after-school activities, sports, etc. However, she still wants him to pay her for half of everything but refuses to provice receipts. When we have a receipt in hand, we'll split the cost with her - even though we don't legally have to.
