Before we moved into this rental, the *handyman* employed by the landlord must have poured $200.00 worth of drain openers down the clogged drains in this house (as evidenced by the number of bottles he left here). It is an older 2 bedroom, 1 bath mobilehome hooked to both city water and sewer, located on a private city lot, not in a mobilehome park.

The handyman finally stated that he had to go under the mobilehome and take the pipes apart and clean them out, finding a buildup of hair, gunk, macaroni, and other food items etc in the lines.

I also noticed on first inspection, that there was a substance backed up into the tub that frankly looked like *mulch*, but had no odor of being sewage. When I moved in, this was gone, tub was clean and all drains were running and draining.

On the first morning, I ran water into the kitchen sink to wash dishes and when it had drained, my son told me to look at the tub. AGAIN, the *mulch-like* substance was in the tub. Now every time I use the kitchen sink, or run the bathroom sink water, this MESS backs up into the tub. It has now started smelling like sewage, not only in the bathroom, but in the kitchen as well. The handyman came out and attempted to tell me it was "weeds" built up in the drain and wanted to pour yet another bottle of junk down the drain. I don't think this is the problem and frankly am ready to call my own plumber to address the problem, because I don't think he knows what he's about!

I'm a cancer patient, have limited resources at the moment and really don't need this aggrevation or invasion all the time with yet another silly solution to this problem. This is a non-complicated piping system. The toilet has never backed up, nor does the water backup occur when the washer is used and drained. Just when the kitchen sink is used or the bathroom sink. Any suggestions would be appreciated

The problem belongs to the landlord, not you. Spend none of your money to correct a problem that you are already paying for through rent payments.

The plumbing drains within the home have a problem which may require mechanical cleaning instead of chemical "cures".

As long as you paying you rent on time, express your concerns firmly to the landlord & also express your lack of confidence in this "handyman". The landlord may want to know this information.

For you to call a plumber could get quite expensive. We do not know if the handyman has caused damage or not, so I agree with bones, talk to the landlord and let him know what the problem is and that nothing is really being done about the problem.

Your handiman should have snaked and flushed the drain lines. Why did he take them apart

I am no fan of putting harsh chemicals in your drainage system,( besides they only seem to work in TV commercials.) My advice?
Call the landlord and get someone in that knows what he's doing. and have the drains snaked and flushed.

I ,too ,am a cancer patient. I beat throat and tongue cancer last year. I had two months of intensive radiation. I beat the cancer but the cure still lingers on. Hang in there! Cancer's tough but it can be beat. I'm living proof. I beat prostrate cancer back in 93 and this one last year. The main thing is NEVER GIVE UP!! Just keep thinking, " I'm gonna beat this thing" You have my well wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.
