What cities are accepting of newcomers?
    Hello,
I'm not sure if the correct forum to ask, but my husband and I are in our mid 30's, and our daughter is one. We are thinking of leaving Massachusetts and trying to live somewhere else but we can't decide.

Do you know of any areas that are more accepting of newcomers than others?
We had thought of moving to the Triangle in NC, and have heard mixed things.

    Thanks!:)

I live in east Tennessee. (Live in Oak Ridge, work in west Knoxville.) It's very beautiful here, mild weather pretty much all year long, and the people here are very nice and accepting.

I work at a customer service desk and had a customer from up north somewhere (can't remember where) who kept remarking about how much nicer people are here. She had walked up to my counter as I was putting up the 'closed' sign and she just couldn't believe I didn't slam the sign in her face and tell her 'tough luck'! Lol!

I also have family in the raleigh/durham area of NC. I've found it to be a nice place every time I've visited. =)

The 5 friendliest cities in America - TODAY Technology & Money- msnbc.com

The above link is an article about the 5 friendliest cities in the US.
I think in this struggling economy,it is wise to look at the towns unemployment as well.In my city in the past year 4 major factories have closed.I would also look at crime rates, educational opportunities and of course climate has to come into play.I would recommend my town as friendly but it is the snowiest city in the US.Syracuse.NY
    Good luck with your adventure.
