    Question regarding divorce.
If a couple gets a divorce, then after a few weeks decides they made a mistake can the divorce be "cancelled"? Who gets notified when a divorce is final? What I mean is how do car insurance companies, health insurance companies, etc... know when your divorced? Is'nt it true that group health plans only cover both people if they're married?

The Court stiplulates when the divorce decree is finalized and there is no taking it back. A couple who changed their minds would need to remarry. I would imagine it takes effect immediately so it's the responsibility of both parties to notify whoever needs to be. If an insurance company was not notified and this resulted in payment on a false claim, somebody would be at risk for insurance fraud and all its consequences.

The date a divorce is final is decided by state law, in some states it is the minute the judge signs the paper work, and in other states it takes 30 to 60 days after the judge signs and of course in other states it may be different from that.

And no one is notified when you get a divorce, you notify them. The women will take a copy of the divorce decree to the DMV and gets her driver licence changed back to her maiden name if she wants.

And yes in most states ( some states have clauses for a partner) but in general once you are divorced unless the divorce degree orders one partner to supply health insurance, any family coverage or joint coverage will have to be changed, since group plans cover dependents,a and a divorced person is no longer the dependent of the other.

And yes if the insurance company pays a claim and it latter finds it should not have paid that claim, they will sue for their money back.

If a couple decides they want to be married again, they merely get married all over.

Generally, such entities are only aware of a divorce after you or the ex-spouse informs them. A couple that has been divorced can always remarry. That is the only way to "cancel" a divorce.
