Gained custody of my niece, scared to lose it.
I've had my niece since she was 6months old. Just in the past year I gained full custody of her and she is now 4. the bio mother never even appeared in court at any of the custody hearings and I was awarded custody with my brothers wishes since he was incarcerated at the time. Now, if you can imagine the craziest person on earth this would be her. She suffers from the most severest form of bi polar disorder. Flips out, threatens to kill me and everybody, including herself and has attempted both on several occasions. She now says she's going to go to Juvnile court and file for custody. She says she's going to take my baby away from me... what are her real chances? The attorney that was appointed for my niece made a recommendation that she have no contact with the child and be deemed dangerous to the well being to my niece... not to mention she has no stable home, no car, barely a job. But can she do it??

It's always possible but it seems highly unlikely. The only thing she seems to have going for her is that she is the biological mother. The court is supposed to decide what is in the best interest of the child. Loving, stable aunt vs emotionally and financially unstable mother. I'd be shocked if any judge decided to take the child from you and giver her back to the mother. It's also going to help you that the attorney is recommending the child be kept from her mother. If you can get your niece's teacher's and/or if she has a therapist or counselor who agrees your niece is doing well with you, it's just like icing on the cake for your case

Unlikely. She may be awarded supervised visitation, however.
