Our InSinkErator Pro 17 disposer was acting up recently.
It would stop grinding and will do this humming noise. First couple of times, resetting the red button on the bottom would fix it.
Now, resetting the button doesn't change anything. Moreover, after a few tries the bottom part of the disposer gets hot and the red button pops out again.

Is there something I can do with it besides taking the whole thing apart?
    Thanks a lot!

    Oops, never mind.
I read another thread here about Pro 17 (should have done it first!) and used a wrench to unjam the motor. Something was really stuck there - I had to push really hard.
It's working now though, I am very happy that I don't have to take it apart.

Yep, you got be careful what you put in. Small piece of bone or seed will get stuck against the wall of the spinning plate and will prevent it from starting up. Glad to see you helped yourself ! :=D

    Thanks!
After a little investigation I found that it was a piece of aluminum foil. No wonder it jammed the motor. I have no idea how it got there but I am sure to be more careful.
