100 year old house-cannot take old ceiling fixtures down
I live in an 100 yr old house and the original ceiling fixtures have been up since 1910. I need to remove them. They were originally gas; converted in the 20s to electrical but are now immovable. Has anyone fixed this without damaging the original fixtures. Thanks.

Usually the fixures have a bracket that needs to be unscrewed from a pipe inside the outlet box. At least, this has been my experience.

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure what "the pipe or the box" is but may find it once I start loosening the bracket. Again, thanks.
