    Changing my daughters last name.
I am currently in the process of filing out paper work to petition for the name change of my daughter. Currently she has my last name, but I would like to hyphenate her current last name with her biological fathers last name.
On the paper work it asks why I'm doing this. I guess what I'm stuck on is how to word everything. We've never been married, but he's always paid child support and we've never had a problem with the visitation schedule as it's been the normal every other weekend and once a week since she was born.
My daughter is now 8 years old and I believe that her father has earned the right to have her carry his last name also

"To support a continuing familial attachment to both parents"

Or in other words "cause we want her to be attached to both of us"

The main issue is that both of you agree to the change. So long as you both agree the courts aren't going to do much to stop it. The main issue is the name change. You can still use her " old " name so long as you want to so long as its not to defraud someone. The only change would be that her legal name is the one your choosing now.

Thanks for you input. We do both agree on the name change and my daughter will be now using both of our names. We are now in the process of doing the paper work and that's all I really needed help with.
