Addicted to addheral: since I stopped ima living zombie
I've been taking addherall now for 3 years(not prescribed to me, but by buying it) and it got me through high school, helped me perform much better at my work, and even helped me read my favorite books and calm me down. Now my friend's prescription has ended(she never took them so she would just give them to me) because her doctor said she had conquered her ADD, and I haven't been able to do ANYTHING. If I'm not at work(sometimes I'm late, too sleepy, or just lazy at work) then I'm at home asleep or eating. I spend all day in bed doing absolutely nothing but playing video games and/or ordering delivery food. I've gained 15 pounds in the past 2 months, and I don't feel like hanging out with my friends. This has really become a problem, but I don't know to do about it since I have no medical insurance. I was willing to pay my friend $100 for just one bottle of meds, but he told me I needed to chill out. How do I cope with my addherall addiction?

You are going through some serious withdrawals and you have already quit your addiction ( if it's been 2 months). Adderall is extremely detrimental to your health, and you should really take better care of your BODY and BRAIN! A lot of my friends have taken adderall in times of "need" but it's just a temporary fix for people who REALLY need it... otherwise, you CAN do all those things (reading, studying) without it... and you will have healthier, more positive results in the end. Just remember that, every time you take adderall, it has pretty much the safe affects that any other methamphetamine would have on your brian... it destroys important chemicals that help regulate emotion & memory... why would you want to put yourself through that? Quick while you can!

As far as the withdrawal symptoms go, you have to just be strong and tough it out... if you go back to taking them, you're only going to fall into a really bad cycle that is going to make you very, very unhappy one day (addicts are not usually very positive people). Don't push your friends away... get back on your feet and take little steps to recover. Start by reading things that are really interesting or entertaining to you.. maybe you need to just get a new job altogether.. start a new lifestyle, exercise, clean out your closet, make a scrapbook! Anything goes, really...

Just know that, if you were once able to achieve with taking adderall, then you can DEFINITELY do the same WITHOUT it! It's really just about getting over the physical addiction by thinking positively about it. There are so many non-adderall addicts that do really great things... why can they do it, and not you?

I thought if I quit cold turkey I would be able to regain my natural focus, but its been 3 months now and I still havne't. Every time I try to attempt a strenuous activity or complete a task, I end up finding something else more amusing to waste time on. It's really becoming a problem

You need to remember you took this form of speed for 3 years. It's going to take some time for your body to get back to normal. It may take 6 months or more to feel "normal" again. Don't despair. Just take it one day at a time to recover from this drug. You WILL feel better. It will take a while.
