    Venting a gas range.
I have a stand alone range, between two doors, not on an outside wall. My question is, can I send the vent up to a 90 degree elbow above a drop ceiling and straight 7 feet to an outside wall?

Is the range designed to be vented?

I want it going out because we want to eliminate all the cooking odors in the home.

Then install a range hood and follow the install instructions. A range hood properly installed will give you enough square inches of capture area and they are also powered so you can use a longer vent pipe to terminate it outside.

I have an electric range but I need to buy a new one. I heard that cooking on a gas range is so much better. My husband pulled the range away from the wall and there is a little pipe sticking out of the wall. Is that for a gas stove? Thank you!

Range - Downdraft Venting [ 1 Answers ]

I am thinking of putting a slide-in range with downdraft venting in an island in the center of the kitchen. Do I have to vent the downdraft system all the way to the exterior of the house? Can I have it vent to the space in between the floor and ceiling below? Or, do you have a better suggestion?
